Description

The history of the Sampler in the United States dates back to the earliest days of the colonies.  Prior to that, samplers appeared in the England of Chaucer nearly 300 years before the first English settlers came to America.

The kind of samplers that are worked today, with pictorial scenes, alphabets, numbers, verses, and borders of flowers done mostly in cross-stitch on even weave fabric, evolved largely in America and England during the time between 1750 and 1840. This Early American Sampler is representative of that time period.

Kit Includes: 9” x 12” piece of 11 count Aida cloth, embroidery floss, needle, chart, and instructions
