Jamestown in the Civil War
Location: Program begins at the Pocahontas statue
Join Public Historian Mark Summers for a special Juneteenth walking tour about Jamestown during the Civil War. Hear the story of self-emancipated Black Virginians and how they defended their freedom in 1862 at Jamestown Island. At the end of the tour, an archaeologist will discuss recent groundbreaking research on this topic. Additional details and schedule to be announced.
