Description
Made locally by Virginia Pewtersmith, this 3″ pewter ornament displays an image of the Jamestown church bell.
In the course of over a century of excavations, archaeologists uncovered six scattered fragments of a bronze bell that were determined to be from the 1608 church within James Fort.
Using information from the original pieces, a replica bell was cast for Jamestown Rediscovery. In 2019, as part of the 400th anniversary celebrations, the replica bell was hung in the newly-constructed model belfry of the 1617 timber framed church.
