Learn more about how archaeology has changed our understanding of life in James Fort and the new discoveries being made by taking a tour. Included with any Historic Jamestowne admission ticket, free walking tours with an archaeologist or educational specialist are offered daily, weather permitting. To find out more about when these tours are available, please check the weekly schedule.
Jamestown Rediscovery also offers several behind-the-scenes opportunities to explore the history and archaeology of the island. Take a James Fort: Lost and Found walking tour of the Fort Site with Emeritus Director of Archaeology and Research Dr. Bill Kelso. Or visit the Jamestown Rediscovery laboratory on a Curators’ Artifact Tour to see some of the three million artifacts recovered from the site. Forensic Fridays are an opportunity to learn more about how archaeologists solve colonial cold cases. The Jamestown Rediscovery education team can also plan a custom tour for a family reunion or genealogy group.
