George Thorpe has told the governor that the Great Chief told him that “the sky should sooner fall than the peace be broken.” Now Governor Wyatt has gathered Thorpe, Rev. Richard Buck, and longtime planter Capt. Nathanial Powell to seek advice and direction. Perhaps the long hoped “firm peace” with the Virginia Indians is finally at hand!
