Road to Revolution Lecture Series: Road to Rebellion
Part 2: “Virginia, 1625-1675”
Jamestown Public Historian Mark Summers will highlight a little-known period in Virginia history. From the 1620s-1670s, Virginia will expand into an agrarian tobacco economy, develop its class and racial systems, while its own legal and political traditions mature. Meanwhile England fractures into political chaos and civil war.
The Road to Revolution lecture series is a 4-part program that explores how events at Jamestown influenced the founding fathers as they created a new nation, built on the foundation of democracy and rule of law established at Virginia’s first colonial capital.
