Remembrances of Capt. Edward Brewster, Capt. of Lord De La Warr’s Personal Honor Guard
Location: Memorial Church
On June 10, 1610, Thomas West, Lord De La Warr, arrived at Jamestown bringing supplies, re-enforcements, and instructions to declare martial law. His timely arrival saved the settlement from collapse and abandonment, and renewed the Virginia Company’s effort to establish an English foothold in North America.
Join us on Saturday, June 8, 2024 as we note the 414th anniversary of the arrival of Lord De La Warr through this “living history” program that will explore the events that lead to one of the darkest times in early Virginia history, the “Starving Time” winter of 1609-10, and its horrific aftermath.
Included with paid admission to the Preservation Virginia portion of Historic Jamestowne.
