Though not strongly associated with Virginia, wild blueberries have grown here for hundreds of years. Excavations of James Fort’s second well turned up seeds from a variety of native Virginian flora, including blueberries! In this context these blueberry seeds may even predate the earliest written records of blueberries in North America.
