The Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation (JRF) is committed to supporting preservation, education, and the archaeological investigation of Historic Jamestowne, the original site of the first successful English settlement in America. JRF is affiliated with Preservation Virginia, a private non-profit organization and statewide historic preservation leader. Preservation Virginia acquired 22.5 acres of Jamestown Island in 1893 and in 1994 began the Jamestown Rediscovery archaeological project, which is still ongoing today. Today the Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation, under the auspices of Preservation Virginia, jointly administers Historic Jamestowne through a public/private partnership with the National Park Service.
The Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation is a non-profit organization that receives no regular federal or state funding for operations.
