Operations Updates:
  • Historic Jamestowne will be closed on December 25 in observance of Christmas Day.

 

Daily Programs and Activities (Available Monday through Sunday, unless noted)

All programs and activities below are included with any Historic Jamestowne admission ticket, unless noted.

9:00am–12:00pm: Archaeology in Action! [Monday through Friday]
Jamestown Rediscovery archaeologists are exploring the interior of the Memorial Church. The team will be digging periodically on weekdays over the winter, so if they are working, stop by to ask about the latest discoveries!

11:00am–12:00pm James Fort Education Walking Tour
Join a member of the Jamestown Rediscovery education team to hear how the ongoing archaeology is shedding new light on the lives of the early settlers and the events that occurred here. Tours begin at the Tercentennial Monument.

1:00pm–4:00pm: Archaeology in Action! [Monday through Friday]
Jamestown Rediscovery archaeologists continue digging in the afternoon.

Thursday, December 14, 2017, 2:00pm–4:00pm: Meet Dr. Walter Russell
Drop in and enjoy an afternoon conversation with Doctor Walter Russell, the first doctor at Jamestown. Offering the difference between a “chirurgian” and a Doctor, he will explain in the greatest detail the intrigues of “Humoral Theory”. From the hardships of Virginia to the bounty of Chesapeake bay, he will no doubt have much to say about life in early Virginia. Location: Archaearium

Saturday, December 16, 2017, 6:30pm–8:00pm & 8:00pm–9:30pm: “At Christmas be Mery”
Sir George Yeardley, Virginia’s Governor in 1620, invites you to an early-Virginia Christmas celebration complete with a seasonal bonfire, caroling, and firing of the Christmas guns! A unique opportunity to see Jamestown Island aglow with firelight. [Requires a separate ticket.]

Visitor Center: 9:00am–5:00pm
1608 Glasshouse: 8:30am–5:00pm
Island Loop Drive: 8:30am–sunset
Memorial Church: 9:00am–4:30pm
Archaearium: 9:30am–5:00pm
Dale House Café: 11:00am–4:00pm

Guests may remain on park grounds until sunset.

Schedule Changes

We do our best to offer all activities as scheduled, but occasionally weather or other factors will necessitate last-minute changes. Some programs, such as NPS Ranger Tours, are only announced that day, so please check at the Visitor Center for the most up-to-date information.
