During the fall of 1618, Captain Brewster has been struggling for weeks to settle the affairs of his former patron—the late governor, Lord Delaware—who died mysteriously at sea. Brewster saw to his burial but became suspicious when the late governor’s men and supplies were being slowly and deliberately appropriated by the acting governor, Samuel Argall. Brewster is determined to confront Argall, a man he once considered a friend. As the truth is revealed, Brewster realizes Argall’s actions were not only illegal but could embroil England in a war with Spain—and lead to the destruction of Jamestown!
