The Spaniard Diego de Molina has spent the last five years as a prisoner at Jamestown. He is allowed an interview with those willing to meet with him, but beware—he is allegedly a spy. Molina was captured near Ft. Algernon as his ship anchored at the mouth of the James River. During his captivity, Jamestown has recovered from the “starving time” and a war with the Virginia Indians. The English now enjoy a tenuous peace following the capture of Pocahontas, her conversion to Protestant Christianity, and subsequent marriage to John Rolfe. Molina no doubt dreads the impact this will have for Catholic Spain in the New World….
