10:00am - 11:30am
Share the once-in-a-lifetime “moment of discovery” as artifacts see their first light of day in more than 400 years.
Join Dr. William Kelso, Director of Archaeology, on this tour of the 1607 James Fort. Your reserved place in this special group allows you to come under the ropes to walk the surface of the ground once trod by Captain John Smith, Pocahontas, and Queen Elizabeth II—now the very soil being dug by his team of archaeologists. Hear how the original fort site, once thought eroded into the James River, was relocated in 1994 and how the archaeological findings are changing our understanding of life in the settlement’s early years.
Tickets: Adult tickets are $45 each and Youth tickets (15 years of age and under) are $26 each. Both tickets include a 7-day Admission Ticket to Historic Jamestowne and Yorktown Battlefield. Tickets must be purchased online in advance or at the Visitor Center by 9:30am on the day of the tour.
Note: A Tour Combo ticket, which includes both this “In the Trenches” and the April 11 Curator’s Artifact Tour (tour begins at 3:00pm), is available. The combo tickets are $76 per adult and $52 per youth. To purchase the Combo Tour tickets, please visit the April 11 Curator’s Artifact Tour page page rather than using the button below.
