Description

Reproduced on antiqued parchment, this twin-hemispherical baroque style map of the world was originally created by Henricus Hondius, a Dutch cartographer and engraver, and was included in several editions of the revitalized Mercator Atlas between 1633 and 1658. This ornately decorated double hemisphere projection depicts the world as it was understood in the mid 17th century. Above the map reads “nova totivs terrarvm orbis geographica ac hydrographica tabvla”, which translated from Latin means “a new geographical and hydrographic map of the entire world”.

Reproduction print measures approximately 15 ¾” wide by 13 ¾” long (comes folded in a 9 ½” by 4 ¼” envelope).
