Description

Historically, the Tyg was a cup constructed of coarse earthware coated with dark brown glaze. These cups were of various forms, with two or more handles, so that they could be passed around a table for three or four persons to drink out of, each person taking hold of a different handle, brought his mouth to another part of the rim to that previously used. The word tyg is a Saxon derivation, signifying a utensil made of earth for conveying drink to the mouth.

This reproduction Tyg was handmade in Maine, and is coated with food-safe glaze. Measures approximately 6 1/2″ tall, 4″ wide at mouth, and 2 1/2″ wide at base. Coloring and size may vary slightly as this is a handmade item.
