Description

Life on a farm in England was not an easy way for a teenager to grow up in the year 1609. George’s family was poor and had to work very hard just to survive. His father was content with their way of living but George was not. He was determined to escape the difficulties of farm life, and he just knew that if he could make it to the New World he would find happiness and riches that he could only dream of in England.

Brave Wolf was a Native American who lived with his family in the area that is now known as Virginia. He was a good hunter and loved to learn about nature and survival, and he also enjoyed laughing and playing with his friends and younger brother. His father was a good man and taught Brave Wolf many things about life and how to be a leader. Brave Wolf enjoyed his life and never wanted it to change.

Jamestown Journey traces the lives of these two boys who lived very far away from one another. Even though they had nothing in common, their lives were destined to meet. When George traveled to Jamestown he didn’t find the riches that he had hoped for. In fact, what he found was about the opposite of what he had expected. None of the settlers had an easy life, and it was a time of great change and development for everyone. George knew there were Natives that lived near Jamestown and he had been told that they were friendly. For the most part, this was true, and he was not frightened. The settlers and the Native Americans shared the land and tried to work out their differences, but at times their relations were strained and fights broke out between the men. When George and Brave Wolf met for the first time they were forced to make a decision that would change their lives forever.
