• Native American Material Culture Tour, 10:00am—11:00am, 12:30pm—1:30pm, & 3:00pm—4:00pm: Join this special hour-long archaeology walking tour focused on the presence of native peoples in James Fort during the first few years of the settlement. Hear about how finding Native American artifacts in key fort-period features is providing important insights into the impact the Powhatan had on the English lifestyle in Virginia. Tours begin at the Tercentennial Monument.
• Native Lifeways of the Chesapeake, 10:00am—4:00pm: Meet Dan Firehawk Abbott of the Nanticoke people of Maryland’s Eastern Shore to learn about the lifeways of the Tidewater Algonquians and their interactions with the settlers of Jamestown.
• A New Life in the New World, 10:00am—4:00pm: Learn first-hand about the trials of the first English settlers and their encounters with the native peoples of the Chesapeake from Anas Todkill, one of the settlers who explored the bay with Captain John Smith.
