Progress continues on the new construction projects at Historic Jamestowne. The Archaearium, a state of the arts museum facility, began construction in March with expected completion with exhibits in the Spring 2006. The innovative design by Carlton Abbott and Partners, allows for the protection, preservation and interpretation of the seventeenth century archaeological remains while creating 7500 square feet of exhibition space overlooking the site of the original Jamestown settlement. The environmentally sensitive design respects both the archaeological and natural environment of Historic Jamestowne. New exhibits will share the recent archaeological discoveries and relate those discoeries to the site where they were found.
Many of the artifacts from Historic Jamestowne's collection will be on exhibit in the Archaearium
The Archaearium is scheduled to open in the Spring 2006
